We manufacture a wide range of sheaves for the entertainment industry, ranging from our tiny 3/64in. cable size up to our 1/2in. cable sizes. Some of our sheaves are also available with double and even triple pulleys. We mill the cheeks from 6061 T6 aluminum billet on our CNC machines. We turn the pulleys for the 3/64in. sheaves, the 3/32in. elevator sheaves, the 3/8in. snatch blocks and the 1/2in. sheaves on our CNC lathe. The 1/8in Diamond sheaves are available with either M4B full complement bearing Aircraft pulleys or precision high speed metric bearings. The 3/16in and 1/4in Diamond sheaves are available with either Mil Spec full complement bearing Aircraft pulleys or precision high speed metric bearings. Please note that many of these sheaves are smaller than the ideal D:D ratio, for convenience of rigging and concealment. These sheaves are in wide use for all sorts of cable rigging for special effects, stunts, and theater. We have destructive tested all of these sizes. In all cases the cable broke before the sheave was damaged. Cheeks are CNC milled and black type II anodized. Fasteners are stainless or alloy steel.
A whole bunch of our sheaves in a Cablecam highline rig. 3/16" HS diamonds, 3/16" HS pears, 1/4" diamond snatch, and a couple of custom sheaves.
We have our first 1/2 inch Diamond Sheave test hanging on the shop wall. We put a 1/2 inch cable sling through the sheave, and pulled on Ver Sale"s tester until the cable broke at 52,000 pounds. The sheave was only slightly hurt: the pulley was marked by the cable strands, and the bearing was slightly rough. So we rated it at 1/5 the breaking strength of 1/2 inch cable, 5840 pounds.
