We test the strength of our blocks at BC Wire Rope and Rigging. There they pull test until something breaks, and that breaking point is recorded. With our blocks, something other than the block breaks, almost always the cable or rope. This 3/16 cable sling broke at 8250 lbs and the block was undamaged. The steel carabiner was slightly bent.
